History
I am Deepan Chakravarthy N. I did my schooling in 5 different schools. But most part

of my schooling was from
Sainik School Amaravathy Nagar.
I had spent seven years of my life in that forest that houses Sainik
School. It was a very different life combined with right amount of
sports, games, and academics. It was my schooling at Sainik
School that kindled my interest in computers. It was during those day I
explored the Borland C++ compiler, Borland Graphics Interface (BGI).
The outcome was a Bouncing ball game that I wrote during 12
th. Unfortunately BGI is outdated by today's standard. But today I use Open
Graphics Library, though I am not a expert in
OpenGL.
After schooling I joined B.Tech in Biotechnology at
Centre for Biotechnology,
Anna University.
I really don't know if that was for good or bad. But it was during my
college I got exposed to the professional world of computers. It was
during college days I got introduced to GNU Linux. I switched from Borland
to
GNU compiler collection (GCC). I also learned to build a Linux system from scratch
(LFS)
during my 6th semester. That was a wonderful experience. The famous
segmentation fault that I encountered with my programs made me
learn GDB, Valgrind. Eventually I also ended up tinkering with
various development tools in Linux starting from GBD, Automake,
Autoconf, Libtool. I did try a bit of parallel programing
using MPI. I had explored perl, though I am not very good at perl
compared to C and C++. Now I am on PHP. Recently wrote a Sudoku solver
using C and then later converted in to PHP.
I am also
associated with
Institute of Mathematical Sciences where I work along with Mr C Viswanath and Dr Ramesh Anishetty in developing a software to analyse
biological networks. The software is called as
network-mechanic and is expected to released within a couple of months. I am also a student of
Mr Chadrashekar Babu,
a computer geek from Chennai. I enjoy his classes to a very great
extent. Though he teaches me GNU Linux, I learn hardware from him. I am a fan of
Richard Stallman (aka RMS, the founder of
GNU Project)
though I don't use Emacs.
I spend most of my time with the computer that
I have at home. At times I do go to college. Its more easy to contact me through IRC nick "
codeshepherd"
at (Freenode DOT net) compared to other modes of today's communication. My
13 year hostel life
ended last December. Now I am living along with my brother and parents
in Besant Nagar, Chennai. My brother Prathap Nirmal, works for Google, Hyderabad.
